Dr. Suzanne Fischer joined Psychological Associates Of NW Georgia Inc in 2004 following 15 years of practice as a psychologist in Tennessee, with a brief interruption in her clinical practice to serve as an executive director for a nonprofit therapeutic foster care agency in Birmingham, Alabama.
Dr. Fischer began her practice as a psychologist with the University of Tennessee, Department of Psychiatry in their Child and Adolescent Partial Hospital Program, where she served as a therapist and, eventually, program director.
She worked for almost 5 years with LeBonheur Children’s Medical Center in Memphis, Tennessee as a psychologist with their outpatient child abuse family assessment, treatment and prevention program.
Dr. Fischer’s areas of practice include child, adolescent and family therapy as well as
child
and adult assessments to include specialized assessments for learning disabilities. She has specialized training in EMDR, a research based trauma processing modality.
Dr. Fischer received her doctorate in psychology from the University of Memphis in Memphis, Tennessee. She completed her pre-doctoral internship at the Memphis Veteran’s Administration Medical Center and two years of supervised postdoctoral training with the University
of Tennessee, Department of Psychiatry in their Child and Adolescent Partial Hospital Program.
Dr. Fischer and her family moved to Rome, her husband’s childhood home, from Tennessee to be nearer to his parents. She has one child, now a teenager.
Dr. Fischer was elected to join Psychological Associates Of NW Georgia Inc because of her commitment to working with children and families who have experienced a wide range of adversity. And also for providing quality treatment to the less privileged members of the community.
